Man receives 28-day jail sentence for coughing at a garda after being arrested

Craig Donegan (21) has been jailed for 28 days after he coughed in the face of a garda claiming he had coronavirus.

The incident occurred when Craig was arrested in Ballinagh, Co Cavan on Sunday morning for a public order incident.

He was brought to Cavan Garda Station where he coughed at a garda through his cell door.

Donegan was sentenced at Cavan District Court, during which he addressed the court to apologise for his actions.
