Workers at Dublin Bus are being ordered to take annual leave days as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.
People Before Profit’s ‘Richard Boyd Barrett’ has been contacted by a number of drivers from different bus companies who are in the same situation.
Barrett stated “I think it is not right to effectively steal the annual holidays from either essential workers who continue to work for us all, or from workers who are contributing to the public health effort to defeat Covid-19 by staying at home”.
It is understood that the action could potentially be illegal as the Organisation of Working Time Act states that employers must give workers at least one months notice if they are directing them to leave.
