More than 6,000 people left without drinking water in Clare due to aluminium contamination

Over 6,000 people in Co Clare are heading into their seventh week without drinking water.

This issue began when their group water scheme became contaminated with aluminium.

Water tankers are being left in villages as boiling the water does not remove the aluminium.

The EPS company in Cork have been flushing out the system for the past few weeks.

The 250 kilometres of pipe that they have to work with makes this a tedious task.

Noel Carmody, manager of the Kilmaley Inagh group water scheme, stated that testing is showing a decrease in contamination levels and hopes that it will diminish very soon.
