Newborn baby infected with coronavirus in the UK

A mother and her newborn baby have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

The newborn is believed to be the youngest person in the UK to have caught the virus.

The mother was hospitalised with suspected pneumonia days before the birth.

The positive result was only revealed after the birth.

Doctors are trying to establish if the baby was infected at birth or caught the virus in the womb.
