A quarter of the Italian population under forced quarantine to prevent Covid-19 spreading

Approximately 16 million Italians have been placed under forced quarantine in northern Italy.

This decision was made in an attempt to prevent the further spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte stated that “There will be no movement in or out of these areas, or within them, unless for proven, work-related reasons, emergencies or health reasons,”.

The quarantine is to remain in place until the 3rd of April.
