A teenager has been jailed for two years after stabbing his mother’s ex-boyfriend to death on the 19th of November 2017.
The incident took place at a house in Edenderry, Co Offaly. Alexander Whelan who was 17 at the time, stabbed 56-year-old Bruno Rolandi to death whilst trying to protect his mother the court heard.
Rolandi was a heroin user and been described as an alcoholic.
Mr Justice white set a headline sentence of six years but reduced it to two years due to the extenuating circumstances of the case.
