Other Covid-19 cases expected to be imported into Ireland, following NI case

The first case of coronavirus has been detected on the island yesterday.

The victim was recently in Northern Italy and returned to Belfast via Dublin Airport.

Over 100 people have so far been tested in the Republic of Ireland, and no case of coronavirus has been confirmed.

The main message from this mornings briefing by the Department of Health was that the case in Northern Ireland doesn’t change anything here.

Further cases here, the public health officials said, are expected – but they said that the HSE is ready and prepared.
