The NTA (National Transport Authority) have released figures that reveal a total of 1,600 fixed penalty notices made against taxi drivers.
The fines accumulated to €76,930. Penalties ranged from €40 to €250.
Overcharging complaints totalled to 529, driver conduct totalled to 496 and the condition of taxis totalled to 78.
Certain complaints revealed details of taxis smelling like urine as well as the presence of hairs and stains on seats, drivers telling passengers not to talk to them and drivers denying access to guide dogs in their cars.
