A new strain of virus that is believed to be behind the mystery pneumonia outbreak in China has been linked to the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus.
A total of 59 people have been struck by the virus so far.
It was determined by lead scientist Xu Jianguo that a new type of coronavirus was behind the outbreak.
Over a decade ago Hong Kong was badly hit by the SARS virus and since this incident 349 people in mainland China and a further 299 in Hong Kong have died from a fresh outbreak of the virus.
Further investigations into transmission, extent and the source of the virus is ongoing.
